DESCRIPTION:The Ivy Centennial Foundation\, in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.\, Mu Lambda Omega Chapter and Sisters in S.T.E.M. are thrilled to present a private viewing of the film HIDDEN FIGURES\, the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P Henson)\, Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae’). These three brilliant Alpha Kappa Alpha women were mathematicians who worked for NASA in the early 1960’s and played a pivotal role in one of the greatest operations in history\, the launch of astronaut John Glenn into space. The film is presented by 20th Century Fox. \nWe will host a select group of 100 young ladies from all over Southern California on Saturday\, January 14\, 2017 at The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center Cinemark Theater in Los Angeles\, CA. \nWe are excited to make this invitation-only event possible to inspire our next generation of female S.T.E.M. professionals.
