DESCRIPTION:Mu Lambda Omega Chapter will commemorate The Longest Day by making lap quilts in honor of those dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia.  On the Longest Day we will distribute the lap quilts to local facilities to let them know that we have not forgotten them and that we are fighting alongside them to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease!  If you’d like to help\, please click here to make a donation to fund research.  And thank you!

DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Black College Expo will take place on Saturday\, February 11\, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The ASCEND Committee\, in collaboration with The National College Resources Foundation will provide complimentary tickets for scholars and parents to attend this MAGNIFICENT event. It is an opportunity for 9th – 10th graders to explore college possibilities and prepare for college entrance. However\, 11th & 12th graders are strongly encouraged to bring letters of recommendations and copies of your high school transcripts for an opportunity to be ACCEPTED ON THE SPOT!!!! Application fees will be waived at the Expo. DESCRIPTION:The Ivy Centennial Foundation\, in conjunction with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.\, Mu Lambda Omega Chapter and Sisters in S.T.E.M. are thrilled to present a private viewing of the film HIDDEN FIGURES\, the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P Henson)\, Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae’). These three brilliant Alpha Kappa Alpha women were mathematicians who worked for NASA in the early 1960’s and played a pivotal role in one of the greatest operations in history\, the launch of astronaut John Glenn into space. The film is presented by 20th Century Fox. \nWe will host a select group of 100 young ladies from all over Southern California on Saturday\, January 14\, 2017 at The Promenade at Howard Hughes Center Cinemark Theater in Los Angeles\, CA. \nWe are excited to make this invitation-only event possible to inspire our next generation of female S.T.E.M. professionals.
