Description

The Mu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., in collaboration with the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, the California Innocence Project, and the Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership, will present the virtual event Repairing A Broken System: A Criminal Justice Reform Panel on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 7:00pm – 8:30pm PST.

How do the injustices of the United States criminal justice system affect the African American community, as well as other underserved communities? What steps can we take to repair the system and make it equal for all citizens?

Join us virtually on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 7pm to find out. During our panel discussion, leaders in law and advocacy will talk about the state of our current justice system and how it affects members of our community. We will also join breakout groups to learn how we can effect change from organizations that help those who have been wrongfully convicted and or are at risk for recidivism. Our distinguished panel includes:

  • Nicole Gougis, Assistant Branch Chief, Criminal and Special Litigation, Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office
  • Pamela J. Dansby, Criminal Defense Attorney, Dansby Law Group
  • Jasmin Harris, Associate Director of Development and Policy, The California Innocence Project
  • The Honorable Lynne Hobbs, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court
  • Joe Paul, Vice President of Network Partnership & Government Relationships, The Los Angeles Reentry Partnership
