Service is a sustained commitment. On Packing Day 2 at Crescent Heights Elementary School, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, MLO Chapter continued that commitment through the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP).
With focus and coordination, chapter members organized assembly lines and packed weekend meal bags filled with shelf-stable, nutritious items such as oatmeal, granola bars, fruit cups, pasta, protein snacks, and milk. Each bag was thoughtfully prepared to ensure students have access to balanced meals over the weekend.
For many students, school meals provide essential daily nutrition. CHIPP helps close the weekend gap, ensuring children return to class on Monday nourished, focused, and ready to learn. By providing these meals discreetly, the program supports both dignity and well-being.
The energy in the room reflected purpose and sisterhood — volunteers checking dates, confirming quantities, and ensuring each bag met program standards. The result: hundreds of items sorted and carefully packed for distribution.
Crescent Heights Elementary staff expressed appreciation for the chapter’s reliability and continued partnership, recognizing the strong connection between food security and academic success.
Packing Day 2 demonstrated more than teamwork; it showcased strategic, consistent service in action. MLO Chapter remains committed to strengthening its impact, expanding support, and ensuring that students and families in the community are cared for.
Our work doesn’t stop here. Mu Lambda Omega Chapter remains committed to expanding its reach, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring sustainability of the program. Consistency builds trust. Trust builds impact. And impact changes outcomes.
