Mu Lambda Omega congratulates Chapter President Akilah Wallace, for being one of the recipients of the Biddy Mason Unsung Shero Award on Saturday, August 11, 2019. The awards celebration commemorates Biddy Mason’s 200th birthday and recognizes Black women who have made a valuable contribution to the underserved and underrepresented populations in Los Angeles County.
Bridget “Biddy” Mason was an enslaved Black woman who walked from Mississippi to California and became the richest Black woman west of the Mississippi, owning real estate in downtown Los Angeles and other parts of California.
Mu Lambda Omega Chapter is proud of Soror Akilah’s accomplishments and recognition in the community.
