Description

Join us for a free virtual experience A Day of Compassion: Black Refugees at the US Border on June 13, 2021 at 2:00pm – 3:00pm.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of World Refugee Day, which celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. Mu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will host a conversation with black-led organizations that are working to assist black refugees at the border as they seek entry into the US, as well as efforts to help them as they resettle and build a new life.

We are excited to welcome Nana Gyamfi from Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) and Fardosa Osman from United Women of East Africa (UWEAST) to share their insights and lift up the experiences of black refugees to build understanding, support and advocacy.

We will also feature a Virtual Artist Showcase by young people who participated in a unit we developed and learned about the experiences of black refugees and were moved to create artistic expressions!

Don’t miss it-all in the community are welcome! Register now at http://bit.ly/MLOBlackRefugees
