MLO Women’s Healthcare and Wellness Initiative facilitated an informative and candid discussion about uterine fibroids with noted expert in women’s health, Dr. Gail Jackson. Did you know that by age 50, an estimated 80% of African-American women will have developed uterine fibroids? Dr. Jackson discussed the different types of fibroids, symptoms, the various treatment options, their impact on fertility and on overall health and wellness. It was a rich time of sharing among ‘just us girls’ as we received valuable information and offered validation and support for women who experience fibroids.
