Pink Goes Red: Soul Line Dancing for Heart Health

On Friday, February 1, 2019, Mu Lambda Omega Chapter in conjunction with Tau Tau Omega, Mu Beta Omega, and Theta Mu Omega Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. presented Pink Goes Red: Soul Line Dancing for Heart Health.

Pink Goes Red is a Community Impact Day where Alpha Kappa Alpha women take off our pink and wear red for one day in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign to raise awareness about heart disease being the #1 cause of death in women. Promoting life changes such as participating in physical activity, healthy diet and reducing stress can increase heart health, longevity and quality of the life for women.

Our collaborative efforts brought nearly 300 community partners and sorority members together at Frank. D. Parent Elementary School in Inglewood where we moved, line danced to soul classics and raised awareness about heart health in women. This fun and family-friendly workout was led by Soror Jackie Rice and her team from J & J Soulful Steps. Proceeds benefited the American Heart Association.
